Smolan – Morris Wayne Hyman, 67, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Salina Regional Heath Center, Salina, KS.
Morris was born October 18, 1951 in Beloit, KS, the son of Gail Donald and Delilah Mae (Colby) Hyman. On April 28, 1982 he married Debra Karleen Gaylord in Clayton, NM, to this union they were blessed with six children, Curtis, Shawnta, Mark, Justin, Crystal and Michael. He and Debbie enjoyed over 36 years of marriage together.
For many years Morris worked as a cement contractor, once he retired from this, he subsequently worked for Alterra Assisted Living in the maintenance department. He and his wife Debbie also had a concession stand at the Odd Fellows. Morris was an avid outdoor sportsman, he loved to go hunting and fishing with his brothers, sons and grandsons. He especially loved to spend time with all his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marietta Hyman and JoAnn Nitch and six brothers, Bob, Roger, Ronnie, Gail (Warnie), Dale and Raymond Hyman.
Morris is survived by his wife Debbie Hyman of Smolan; four sons, Curtis (Kim) Hyman, Mark (Amber) Hyman all of Canton, NC, Justin (Trisha) Smith of Minneapolis, KS, Michael (Allison) Hyman of Glendale, KS; two daughters, Shawnta Lankford of Goodwell, OK, Crystal (Curtis) Hyman of Smolan, KS; thirteen grandchildren, Aaron, Eli and Emma Hyman of Canton, NC, Connor, Payton and Gracie Lankford of Goodwell, OK, Keillon, Altee, twins Kemper and Tait Smith all of Minneapolis, KS, Breleign Hyman of Smolan, Dillon and Maddox Moore of Glendale, KS; three brothers, Darrell “Heavy” (Willma) Hyman and Edwin “Whitey” (Linda) Hyman all of Salina, KS, Wayne (Judy) Hyman of Smith Center, KS; one sister, Mary Mallory of Jewell, KS and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Morris’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Emmanuel Foursquare Church, 1325 E. Cloud St., Salina, KS, with Pastor Loren Houltberg presiding. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Morris Wayne Hyman Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS 66967.
