Downs - Susanna "Sue" DeBolt, 69, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at her home in Downs, KS.
She was born May 30, 1949 at the family home in Lebanon, KS, the daughter of Ignatz Louis and Erma (Smith) Redeker. On October 6, 1983 she married Buford DeBolt in Hutchinson, Kansas.
Sue had many hobbies she enjoyed, she was an amazing artist and even a more amazing dancer. Garage sales were a highlight of her life and she would go anytime she could. Sue loved to reminisce about past stories about her family and giggle the whole time she told them. She also would listen to all of her families stories/life events and give advice but never judge. She always had a way of making a bad day better by her smile or a funny remark. She loved her three girls and would always put their hair up like "palm tree's" when they were young. Her love for Buford and the bond they shared could be seen by anyone when he would just walk in a room she was in, a big smile would come across Sue's face and her eyes would light up. Sue loved her family and making a house a home for everyone that would come stay with her, this was always very important to her. Sue's pride and joy were all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she loved to spend as much time with them as possible. Her family commented that even through all the past years of illness, that she never lost her strong faith in God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Marcie DeBolt-Dixon, a sister Gena Casey and great granddaughter Shelbie Paige Schreiner.
She is survived by her husband Buford DeBolt of Downs; two daughters, Trisha Harding of Downs, Leigh Ann (Christopher) Kirby of St. Joseph, MI; seven siblings, Pat (Ross) Heinen of Downs, Ron Redeker of Salina, Shirley Benedict of Arkansas, Mark (Jerri) Redeker of Salina, Steve (Barb) Redeker of Beaver City, NE, Angie (Kelly) Herdt of Smith Center, Terri (Darin) Godsey of Gaylord; seven grandchildren, Melanie Schreiner, Brody Metz, Cheyenne Harding, Preston DeBolt, Lyndzea Kirby, Heather Kirby and Joseph Kirby and eleven great grandchildren, Aubrey and Ava Schreiner, Jayden, Quinten, Sydneigh and Weston Metz, Autumn, Tyron and Ember DeBolt, Gunner Kirby and Berkelee Kirby.
A celebration of life services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center, KS. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. Inurnment will be in the Downs City Cemetery, Downs, KS. Memorials may be given to Sharpe Memorial Clinic or Osborne County Memorial Hospital both of Osborne, KS and can be sent in care of All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S.
