Scott Dennis Smith, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at his home in Kent, WA.
Scott was born on June 4, 1946, in Portland, OR., the son of John L. and Elizabeth (Whitlock) Smith III. On May 13, 1965, Scott married Kathleen Marie in Portland, OR. Kathleen preceded him in death on February 9, 2014. Scott was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving from November 29, 1963, to November 28, 1967, when he was honorably discharged. After his time spent in the service, he worked for Safe Way as a meat cutter retiring in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Kathleen.
Scott is survived by his partner, Mary Groshong; two sons, Scott Smith Jr, and David Smith; four daughters, Susan Van Horn, Rachael Hibbard, Erin Watson and Christine Hinzman; five siblings, Karen Montoya, John Smith, Curt Smith, Laurel Boyanovsky and Cindra Conlee; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, Kansas.
