Vera May (Biehn) Jackson was born on November 23, 1932, in a house in Reamsville, Kansas. The 2nd child of John and Minnie (Dieken) Biehn. She passed at Arbor Care Center in Franklin, NE, at 91 years, 8 months and 1 day.
In her youth she enjoyed chasing rabbits and riding a black horse bareback like the wind. Vera met Wayne Jackson at the movie theater in Franklin, NE. They were married on February 28, 1949, at the courthouse in Franklin, NE. The first few years they lived in a two-room schoolhouse with no electricity or running water. While living there they had three children, Wanetta, Wanda, and Jimmy.
Vera and Wayne enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and going to auctions. In 1955 they moved to the family farm south of Franklin, NE, where they had four more children, Bernice, Jerry, Linda, and Dawn. In 1963 they moved east of Naponee, NE, where they farmed and raised hogs with Marvin Jackson. In 1982 they moved back to the family farm until Wayne’s passing in 2019. At that time Vera moved to Arbor Care Center in Franklin, NE until her passing.
While living in Naponee, Vera raised her children and helped on the farm. She also worked at Alma Livestock for Larry Freeland for over 20 years. She was a lover of all animals, especially dogs, raising them for many years. In different times on the family farm, she had skunks, coyotes and deer.
Vera’s final resting place will be next to the love of her life, Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Minnie (Dieken) Biehn, husband Samuel Wayne Jackson, father & mother-in-law Arthur Jacob & Ollie Ann Jackson, brother & sister-in-law Clarence & Darlene Biehn, four brothers-in-law Warren Arthur, Wilbur Jacob, Eugene Denton, and Raymond Leroy Jackson, three sisters-in-law Erma Aileen Wiley, Dorothy Mae Henry and Goldean (Loy) Drake, two sons-in-law, Gerald Webber and Val Reed, daughter-in-law Elaine Jackson, three grandsons Jerry Webber Jr., Philip Wayne Webber and Toby (Karen) Spaulding, one great grandson Nate Grabast, and an in-law Kristy Loschen.
Vera is survived by her seven children, Wanetta Mae Webber, Wanda Marie Reed, Jimmy John Jackson, Bernice Rose (Don) Iman, Jerry Dewayne (Terrie) Jackson, Linda Sue Miner, and Dawn Ann (Hal) Haeker, two sisters-in-law LaVeena Jackson and Shirley (Lloyd) Tubbs, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Kasey Loschen officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., with family present to great friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, KS. Memorials may be given to the Vera May Jackson Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
