Prairie View - Scott J. Tien, 57, passed away Friday, January 29, 2021. Scott was born September 14, 1963 in Norton, Kansas, the son of Henry and Ann (Prinsen) Tien. On July 19, 1990 he was united in marriage to Patricia (Shellito) Tien on the family farm in Prairie View. To this union, they were blessed with two boys, Trevor and Brady.
Scott was a graduate of Logan High School class of 1982. He then attended Colby Community College and returned home to help his dad with the family farm. He enjoyed his lifelong career as a machinist, working the last 10 years at Wellhead Systems Inc . He was a member of the Luctor Christian Reformed Church of Prairie View and the Borderline Gun Club of Phillipsburg.
Scott enjoyed travelling with Patty to cheer on the kids at multiple track meets, ball games, rodeos, jackpots, and little league baseball, just to name a few. He loved spending time with his grandson Rhett, as much as possible. He enjoyed going to Glock sponsored competition gun shoots over the past 10 years and took them very seriously. Scott thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors from grilling to hunting, helping cut wood, camping with Trevor and Whitney, and of course; watering the lawn so that he could mow.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Tien; parents, Henry and Ann Tien; father-in-law, Ronald (Virginia) Shellito.
He is survived by his two sons, Trevor (Whitney) Tien of Phillipsburg and Brady (Jessie) Tien of Topeka; grandson, Rhett Tien; mother-in-law, Connie (Doug) Rice of Smith Center; three brothers, Curtis (Heidi) Tien of Dry Ridge, KY, Steven Tien of Hill City, Kent (Ashlee) Tien of Prairie View and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at the Luctor Christian Reformed Church, 946 W. 1100 RD, Prairie View, KS with Rev, Shawn Richardson officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Luctor Christian Reformed Church. Burial will take place in Luctor Cemetery, Prairie View, KS. Memorials may be given to Scott J. Tien Memorial Fund and can be sent in care of All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS 66967.
