Eddie was born on February 25, 1934, in rural Jewell County, KS, the son of Earl Olen and Mayme Beryl (Tucker) Hall. He was raised on the family farm and learned the value of hard work at an early age. His father passed away unexpectedly when he was 15. Eddie went to work to support his family, spending a summer working for Howard and Ruth Dietz and other families over the next few years. With encouragement from two of his uncles, Archie and Wayne, he still completed high school, graduating from Esbon High with the class of 1952.

On June 22, 1952, Eddie married Opal I. Anderson at the United Brethren Church in Esbon, KS. They were blessed with two children, Lynn and Regi. Eddie and Opal began their married life in Hastings, NE, where Eddie worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot and both of their children were born.

Throughout his life, Eddie demonstrated a strong work ethic and a willingness to take on many different responsibilities. He operated a grocery store in Ionia, worked as a meat cutter for Safeway in Smith Center, drove trucks for Glen Smith, Ernie Wehe, and Boogaarts, and worked as a carpenter for Kenny Castle. He managed the Coop in Smith Center and the Seneca elevator. Eddie eventually returned to trucking. Eddie and Opal traveled throughout all 48 contiguous states together when he drove for Crete Carriers. He later became self-employed with his son, Lynn, and maintained and repaired his own trucks. After retiring from full-time trucking, Eddie continued working, hauling campers for Excel and using his carpentry skills to help Travis and Shawn with full-home renovations and other projects.

Eddie was active in his community as a member of the Smith Center Jaycees and the Smith Center City Council. He also coached Lynn’s baseball, leading two peewee teams to the state championship. Eddie was a member of New Covenant Church of Smith Center.

In his free time, Eddie enjoyed fishing, dancing, following the Kansas City Royals, working in his yard, and visiting with family and friends. He will be remembered for his hardworking nature, mechanical and carpentry skills, devotion to his family, and willingness to lend a hand whenever it was needed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Opal; and a brother, Paul Reinert.

Eddie is survived by his son, Lynn (Judy) Hall of Smith Center; his daughter, Regi (Dave) Conaway of Smith Center; two brothers, Victor Hall of Washington State and Burl Hall of Elkhorn, NE; a sister, Karen Flint of Downs; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 24, 2026, with the family present to greet friends.  Burial will take place in the Esbon Cemetery, Esbon, KS.  Memorials may be given to the Smith County Memorial Hospital – Hometown Café and/or SunPorch of Smith County and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
