Gaylord - Joe Douglas Garceau, 79, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Smith Center Health and Rehab, Smith Center, KS.
Joe was born August 22, 1943, in Altadena, CA, the son of Arthur Bernard Garceau Jr. and Frances Eugenia (Shotwell) Garceau. On December 31, 1973, he married Jacalyn L. Mahin in Reno, NV.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, good neighbor, believer in Christ, member of the Gaylord Church of the Nazarene, mechanic, hobby rancher and mentor to many.
Joe is survived by his wife Jackie of Gaylord; four children, Joel Jr. (Lisa) Garceau of Emmett, ID, Jody (John) Marcurella of Orangevale, CA, Candace Pontnak of Smith Center, Jack (Amanda) Garceau of Plumas Lake, CA; nine grandchildren Bryson Brown, Joel Garceau III, Brandon Brown, Samantha Thompson, Gage Garceau, Josh Pontnak, Seth Pontnak, James Garceau, Avery Garceau, and five great grandchildren Bella-Ann Thompson, Scarlett Thompson, Oakley Garceau, Braxton Brown, Brooklynn Brown.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at 11 a.m., July 28, 2023, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, 113 S. Madison St., Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Rod Sutter officiating. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. The inurnment will take place in the Gaylord City Cemetery, Gaylord, KS. Memorials may be given to the Gaylord Church of the Nazarene, Gaylord, KS, and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
