Lebanon - Debbie S. Atwood, 59, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Smith County Memorial Hospital, Smith Center, KS.
She was born October 4, 1958 in Smith Center, KS, the daughter of Bernard Emery and Stella Margaret (Morgenstern) Crissman. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1976. Debbie had worked in customer service for most of her life, working at Midway Coop, Lebanon Grain, Guide Rock Coop, Frieling Grain, MPK Land & Livestock and The Peoples Bank.
Debbie kept herself busy over the years with several hobbies, she rode horses and motorcycles throughout her life. She enjoyed do it yourself projects and working on her home with her brother Dan. Debbie loved to plant flowers around her home, once Wren was old enough to help, she and grandma would plant the flowers together. Debbie was also a great cook and would bake cakes for her children and grandchildren's birthdays each year. She loved to make sweets, especially during the holidays and cook holiday dinners. However, if she was having six people over for dinner she always cooked for fifty, both Justin and Wendy said they never ran out of food. Debbie had a passion for keeping everything neat and tidy. Whether it was inside her house or around the outside she was constantly cleaning and making her home look great. Debbie loved her family dearly and spending time with each of them. She enjoyed going shopping with Wendy whenever they could, being a grandmother to Wren and Wheaton and a mom to her other love, Addie, her pet boxer.
Debbie is preceded in death by her parents and a great-nephew, Brandon Crissman.
She is survived by her son Justin Atwood & friend Beth Miller of Lebanon; daughter Wendy (Wes) Woerner of Burr Oak; two brothers, Jerry Crissman of Salina, Dan (Pam) Crissman of Smith Center; two grandchildren, Wren & Wheaton Woerner, three step grandchildren, Winston, Kadon and Colin Woerner, long time friend Janeen Befort of Lebanon; four nephews, two nieces and numerous great nephews, nieces and friends.
A celebration of Debbie's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 6, 2018 at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Jon Harvey officiating. There will not be a public visitation as cremation was chosen. Private family inurnment will take place in Price Cemetery, Lebanon, KS. Lunch and fellowship to follow the service at the Lebanon Community Center for family and friends. Memorials may be given to the Debbie S. Atwood Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
